Here is why most sales emails suck and yours don't have to

Okay, the above is obviously bad. It’s not even a sales email - it’s just a sales rep who got hold of some lead data and decided to take his chances with an email blast.
Let’s take another example
Nothing really wrong with this one. This how perhaps how the most sales emails look like.
But there is one problem - it’s not as effective. Why?
It starts with a good intention - trying to call out a trend. But here’s the problem - it uses too many jargons that makes it difficult for me to relate to it.
Second part is all about them, not about me. Also same problem - too many big and cryptic words in there.
Third part is the value prop part, which is fine.
Fourth part is the Call to Action (CTA) and this is perhaps the most common mistake. “A good time to connect” in today’s world when everyone is getting on to 4+ Zoom calls a day is never going to arrive.
CTAs are hard but a lot of people make mistakes here
The CTA part is a challenge - how do you get someone to commit their time? Fundamentally to get more people to act:
Make them interested in the rest of your email - so that their desire is the highest.
Reduce their risk - they should feel like they have nothing to lose or nothing to commit if they take action.
Reduce decision making - what time works is hard for them to answer? “Can I block 15 mins for Tuesday 12 pm? is better.
Reduce the friction: Making them fill up a form is too much work. Clicking on a link to accept a slot reduces the friction.
Email is the most important tools for sales teams
Even with all the WhatsApp and phone calls around, email still remains the most important tool. It’s convenient, asynchronous, taken as a written commitment, can be forwarded along with so many other things.
And hence getting emails right is important. And it still fascinates us to try different things at Cutshort. Will share more of our learnings on emails over time.
